A new fine dining restaurant is coming to the downtown Boston area, moving into the space where an upscale Italian cafe used to be.
According to OpenTable, 49 Social is planning to open on Temple Street (between Tremont Street and Washington Street), taking over the former Ivy Restaurant spot. Ivy closed its doors in October of 2010 after being in business for about five years, as its parent group had gone into bankruptcy last year. (Stoddard's, another Ivy Restaurant Group spot on the same street, remains open.)
Based on information from the OpenTable page for the restaurant, it appears that 49 Social will feature New American cuisine with some international influences, as well as a wide variety of wines and inventive cocktails. The space will include three levels of seating and two bars.
[May 23 update: According to UrbanDaddy, 49 Social is planning to open on Thursday (May 26).]
The address for this new restaurant in downtown Boston is: 49 Social, 49 Temple Place, Boston, MA, 02111.
