A food channel is getting ready to celebrate its first birthday with another cross-country frozen treat truck tour, and it will be returning to Boston while on the tour.
An email sent to us by Frank Public Relations in New York indicates that the Cooking Channel will be taking their ice cream truck on the road for another trip, and once again, it will be coming to downtown Boston on Monday, July 4 to hand out frozen treats. Unlike last year, when the truck was stationed at City Hall Plaza, the Cooking Channel will be setting up at 45 School Street, which is where the Old City Hall is located. The truck will be partnering with local vendors, according to the email.
[June 28 update: Another email sent to us by Frank Public Relations states that the hours for the Cooking Channel Food Truck will be 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM on July 4, and it will feature frozen treats from J.P. Licks. Ice cream flavors will include cake batter, el diablo, oreo, and vanilla (with this last one having both regular and sugar-free options). Raspberry lime rickey sorbet will also be available.]
In addition to Boston, the Cooking Channel food truck will also be going to Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, and Pittsburgh, with all stops being during the month of July.
The Cooking Channel was started by the same folks who are behind the popular Food Network channel. It focuses a little more on cooking instruction shows than the Food Network does, which features a number of entertainment and reality shows in addition to cooking shows.
