It looks like the chef of a now-closed South End restaurant is going to be opening a barbeque spot in the Fenway section of Boston.
According to both Grub Street Boston and BostonChefs.com, Tiffani Faison of Rocca on Harrison Avenue--which closed at the beginning of the year--plans to open Sweet Cheeks on Boylston Street, bringing to the Fenway neighborhood a place to get Southern-style fare that focuses on responsibly-sourced ingredients. BostonChefs.com mentions that the new eatery, which will take over the space where Cambridge 1 currently resides, will have an outdoor patio open during the warmer months, while Grub Street mentions that it will likely be a popular spot for takeout as well.
[July 19 update: According to a poster on the Chowhound site, Cambridge 1 will be closing its Fenway location sometime later this month.]
[October 25 update: The Sweet Cheeks website has just gone live (see link below). Also, according to The Boston Globe, it looks like the restaurant will be opening sometime in November.]
[November 7 update: According to UrbanDaddy, Sweet Cheeks is opening this Friday (November 11).]
Tiffani Faison has worked at a number of restaurants over the past 10 years, including Rocca, Lucky's Lounge in the Fort Point neighborhood and Perdix in the South End. She has also been a finalist on the Bravo show Top Chef.
The address for this new BBQ spot in the Fenway section of Boston is: Sweet Cheeks, 1381 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02215. The website can be found at http://www.sweetcheeksq.com/
