A new restaurant is on its way to the Back Bay of Boston, moving into the space where an upscale dining spot and lounge used to be.
According to EveryBlock Boston, a business license has been issued for Brahmin Restaurant and Lounge (now called The Brahmin American Cuisine & Cocktails), which is going to open on Stanhope Street next to Zocalo Cocina Mexicana. The upcoming eatery will take over the spot where 33 Restaurant and Lounge had been for about eight years until closing in the spring of 2010. The City of Boston website mentions that Redbrook Restaurant Group (which runs the trendy Red Sky Restaurant & Lounge near Faneuil Hall) is behind the opening of Brahmin. It appears that the new restaurant will have both indoor and outdoor dining.
[July 26 update: According to Thrillist Boston, The Brahmin American Cuisine & Cocktails may be opening as early as tomorrow (Wednesday, July 27). The article mentions that Brahmin will feature both small plates and dinner entrees as well as "throwback cocktails," and there will be a VIP room downstairs. Thanks to food writer MC Slim JB for bringing this to our attention via Chowhound.]
[July 27 update: According to UrbanDaddy, it looks like The Brahmin won't be opening to the public until at least next week.]
[August 2 update: According to a poster on Chowhound, The Brahmin American Cuisine & Cocktails is now open.]
The address for this new restaurant in the Back Bay is: The Brahmin American Cuisine & Cocktails, 33 Stanhope Street, Boston, MA, 02116.
