About a year and a half after the closing of a branch of a local restaurant/ice cream chain in Boston's Financial District, it looks like a new restaurant and bar will be moving into the space.
According to a poster on the Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook page as well as another poster on the Chowhound site, Slate Bar & Grill is planning to open on High Street, taking over the spot where Brigham's had been until closing in late 2009 (the Brigham's chain subsequently filed for bankruptcy a short time later). A website for the new dining spot and watering hole is up, but the site is apparently under construction and has no information at this point in time.
[January 19, 2012 update: A bit more information on Slate Bar & Grill--according to a couple of posters on the Hiddenboston Twitter page, the paper has been taken down from the windows, with one poster also saying that the bar is up and the chairs and tables are in, with a mid-February opening looking like a possibility. We will try to confirm an exact opening date over the coming days, so keep checking back for updates.]
[February 17, 2012 update: A phone call placed to Slate Bar & Grill indicates that they are now open for business, with their official opening being on Monday, February 20.]
The address for this new restaurant and bar in the Financial District is: Slate Bar & Grill, 109 High Street, Boston, MA, 02110. The website will be at http://www.slatebarandgrill.com/
