A dance club in Somerville that has been in business for nearly 30 years is shutting its doors, and a new restaurant featuring local foods and local music will be moving into its space.
According to The Somerville Journal and Wicked Local, Club Choices on Somerville Avenue in Union Square is closing down and selling its space to Radio Bar, which will be run by a bartender at Rosebud Bar & Grill in Davis Square (he also was a bartender at the Salty Dog in Boston's Faneuil Hall). The article mentions that the new restaurant will keep the space intact, with its dance floor, bar, and tucked-away corners staying put, and its menu will include "American feel-good food, comfort food," with a Union Square Farmers' Market antipasto and Rhode Island-style clam chowder being two menu items at Radio Bar. The space will also be a venue for local bands.
Club Choices, which first opened in 1983, was known in part for its international music, with Brazilian night and Latin night being a couple of recurring events at the nightclub.
The address for Club Choices (and the new Radio Bar) is 379 Somerville Avenue, Somerville, MA, 02143.
[October 31 update: Radio Bar is now open.]
