A diner in Belmont that had been in business for more than three decades before shutting down earlier this year may be returning to this western suburb of Boston.
According to a brief article in The Boston Globe, the space where Andros Diner used to be on Trapelo Road has a new owner, and he is planning to lease the spot. The article mentions that three parties have shown an interest in renovating the space, and that the owner could have a plan in place for the diner within the next month or so. While the headline of the Globe article is "Diner May Return," it is not known for sure whether the Andros Diner name will remain; as soon as we find out more on this, we will post an update here.
Andros Diner had been in financial difficulty for awhile, with the restaurant briefly closing in the summer of 2010 due to tax issues. This spring, the diner was seized by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, and the property was auctioned off.
The address for the space is 628 Trapelo Road (Route 60), Belmont, MA, 02478.
