The folks behind several Asian restaurants in Quincy are getting ready to open their first spot outside of the city, with this one being in one of the hottest neighborhoods in the Boston area for new restaurant openings.
According to their website, Fuji at Kendall is planning to open on Third Street in the Kendall Square section of Cambridge. Based on the menu for the upcoming restaurant, it appears that the new spot could be at least somewhat similar to Fuji 1546, a Japanese restaurant on Hancock Street in Quincy Center that is run by the same people. (Their other dining and drinking spots include Bistro Chi/Kama Lounge on Cottage Avenue in Quincy Center and B-Cafe [formerly Beni Cafe] and Shabu Restaurant, both on Hancock Street in North Quincy.)
Although it isn't open yet, Fuji at Kendall's website has a menu up, with soups, salads, appetizers, sushi, maki, noodle dishes, teriyaki, and more shown.
A poster within the Chowhound site mentions that Fuji at Kendall may be opening sometime this month.
[December 1 update: A post on their Facebook page indicates that Fuji in Kendall Square is still planning to open on December 5.]
[December 4 update: Fuji may not be opening tomorrow (Monday, December 5) after all, as a note posted today on their Facebook page mentions that "We appreciate everyone's support and patience! We won't keep everyone waiting for much longer, Fuji at Kendall will be due to open its doors in the following weeks!"]
[December 13 update: According to their Facebook page, Fuji at Kendall is now open.]
The address for this new Japanese eatery in Kendall Square is: Fuji at Kendall, 300 Third Street, Cambridge, MA, 02142. The website for the restaurant can be found at http://www.fujiatkendall.com/
