It looks like a candy shop and soda fountain is on its way to the stretch of Mass. Ave. in Cambridge between Porter Square and Harvard Square.
A poster on the Chowhound site reports that Evelyn & Angel's Candy Shop will be opening at 1702 Mass. Ave., with an earlier article from Cambridge Day indicating that it will be moving into the space where a gift shop and jewelry store called Topaz used to be (Topaz has since moved to Dunster Street in Harvard Square). The Cambridge Day article states that Evelyn & Angel's will feature freshly-made chocolates along with roasted nuts and candy, and the space will also include a soda fountain. No opening date has been given as of yet, though there is a sign in the window stating that the shop is "coming soon."
[October 12 update: A more recent article from Cambridge Day mentions that Evelyn & Angel's is planning to open "by early November at the latest." (Thanks to one of our readers for bringing this to our attention.)]
[January 4, 2013 update: Eater Boston is reporting that Evelyn & Angel's is now open.]
Cambridge Day also says that the owner of Evelyn & Angel's may be a lawyer who was named as one of 25 Rising Stars by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly awhile back, and was recently selected by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce as a Boston Future Leader.
The address for this new retail candy shop and soda fountain is: Evelyn & Angel's Candy Shop, 1702 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02138.
