[Ed note: This article was updated on January 9, 2014 to reflect a name given to the restaurant.]
It looks like the site of a now-closed elder care facility and a casket company just outside of Lexington Center will become home to an inn that includes a restaurant and lounge.
The Lexington Minuteman reports that a proposal for the Inn at Hastings Park is currently being looked at by the Lexington Planning Board, with a public hearing on the plan coming on March 26. The article states that the 22-room inn would be built at the site of the former Dana Home (and an adjacent casket company) on Mass. Ave. (at Worthen Road), with a conversion of the existing structures being done rather than a new structure being built.
The Minuteman article states that a hearing was held on February 29 that allowed residents to voice their support and concerns about the proposal for the Inn at Hastings Park. The Planning Board Chairman sees "two serious flaws" with the current plan, including the size of the project (and on-site parking) and drainage near wetlands that are part of conservation land. A revised plan from the property owner is expected.
