Anthony's Pier 4 to Remain Open; Will Move to New, Smaller Waterfront Space

Last summer we reported that a landmark restaurant on the Boston waterfront that first opened nearly 50 years ago was going to be closing to make room for a new residential and commercial development. Now it looks like the eatery will be part of the massive project, eventually moving into a smaller space nearby.

The Boston Herald is reporting that Anthony's Pier 4 has worked out a deal to move into the base of a hotel that will be built within the Seaport Boulevard development, which will include a 21-story luxury apartment tower and a condo complex. The space that Anthony's currently resides in will become a park, though the restaurant will remain open for the time being. The Herald mentions that the new space within the hotel will be "much smaller" than its current 1,000-seat spot.

Anthony's Pier 4, which started out in 1963, was the most profitable restaurant in the United States at one point.

The current address for Anthony's is: Anthony's Pier 4, 140 Northern Avenue, Boston, MA, 02210. Their website can be found at http://www.pier4.com/anthonys.php
