Waxy O'Connor's Is Opening in Woburn

It looks like a group of Irish pubs with two locations in the Boston area is getting ready to open a third spot.

According to a poster on the Chowhound site, Waxy O'Connor's was holding job interviews yesterday for an upcoming location in Woburn. The pub, which plans to move into the former Spud's space on Rainin Road (off of Montvale Avenue), has apparently been in danger of not being allowed to open at all, based on an earlier Woburn Patch article that stated the Woburn License Commission said they needed to open by January or risk losing their liquor license because of the lack of progress being made toward their opening.

[January 25 update: According to a couple of our sources--and confirmed by the restaurant's Facebook page--the new Waxy O'Connor's in Woburn is now open. (Thanks to Cheryl and Scott for this info.)]

Waxy O'Connor's opened their first restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in 1997, eventually expanding to South Beach Miami, Miami River, San Antonio, and Keene, NH. Their two Boston-area locations are in Foxboro and Lexington.

The address for this new Irish pub in Woburn is: Waxy O'Connor's, 1 Rainin Road,
Woburn, MA, 01801. The website for all of the Waxy O'Connor's restaurants is: http://www.waxys.com/
