A restaurateur who is involved with several Boston dining spots is one of a few people behind the upcoming opening of a new eating and drinking establishment in Allston, and it will be taking over the space where a Brazilian eatery had been.
Boston.com is reporting that Peter Culpo (Woody's, Parish Cafe, The Hill Tavern) is teaming up with three other folks to open a restaurant in the former Cafe Brazil space on Cambridge Street, with the article saying that the unnamed spot will be similar to The Hill Tavern in Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood (which one of the business partners involved--Mark Murphy--owns with Culpo). The new place could be open as early as this summer.
The article also mentions that Culpo is the father of Olivia Culpo, who was crowned Miss Universe last December. Both father and daughter are from Rhode Island.
[October 17 update: According to its website, the name of the new restaurant that is moving into the Cafe Brazil space is Lulu's Allston. (Its Twitter page says that the eating and drinking spot plans to open sometime this fall.) The website for Lulu's will be at http://lulusallston.com/]
[May 20, 2014 update: UrbanDaddy mentions that Lulu's will have 50 tap lines for beer and menu items such as a burger topped with short ribs, beer cheese soup, and an egg.]
[June 13, 2014 update: According to a post on its Facebook page, Lulu's opens on Sunday evening (June 15).]
The address for this upcoming restaurant and bar in Allston is 421 Cambridge Street, Allston, MA, 02134.
Thanks to Eater Boston for bringing this to our attention.
