Red Lulu in Salem to Move, Become Lolita Cocina and Tequila Bar

A Mexican restaurant that opened a couple of years ago on the North Shore is going to be moving, and when it reopens, it will have a new name--and one that may be familiar to some.

A press release sent today indicates that Red Lulu in Salem will close its doors at 94 Lafayette Street on October 31, reopening on nearby Washington Street this winter as Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar, which is the same name as Red Lulu's sister restaurant on Dartmouth Street in Boston's Back Bay. The new dining spot will have seating for 110 (plus 40 more seats on an outdoor patio) and will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, along with a weekend brunch.

[October 30 update: Red Lulu posted on its Facebook page today that the restaurant has already closed, with another update on its reopening coming soon.]

Red Lulu first opened in Salem in October of 2011, while Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar first opened in the Back Bay in December of 2010.

The address for the upcoming Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar is 118 Washington Street, Salem, MA, 01970.
