Cafe Madeleine Is Opening in Boston's South End

Earlier this year, we reported that a cafe in the South End of Boston had closed down. Now we have learned that a new cafe will be moving into the space.

Eater Boston is reporting that Cafe Madeleine is planning to open in the spot on Columbus Avenue where the Amsterdam Cafe had been, with the place apparently being a French patisserie with sandwiches, baked goods, and coffee. (Note: Another, unrelated Amsterdam Cafe in South Boston remains open.) The article mentions that the chef and owner of the eatery is Frederic Robert, who has worked at the award-winning PB Boulangerie in Wellfleet and the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas, and had also been an executive pastry chef in France.

It looks like Cafe Madeleine could be opening early next year, according to EB.
