Basil Rice Is Opening in Former Pita Pit Space in Brookline

It looks like a new restaurant is coming to Brookline, opening in the space where a location of a chain of sandwich places had been.

A Planning Board Meeting page within the Town of Brookline website indicates that Basil Rice is apparently moving into the former Pita Pit space, with the post mentioning that the new eatery is hoping to install a new facade and window signage at the Harvard Street site. Based on the name, it appears that the restaurant will be focusing on Thai food, but no other information has been given and it is not known when it might be opening.

[July 28 update: According to a post from the Skeleton, You Are My Friend blog, Basil Rice is now open, and it indeed focuses mainly on Thai fare.]

Pita Pit, which is based in Canada, closed its Brookline location over the winter; this was the only Boston-area shop that they had, with the closest locations now being in Durham, NH, Amherst, and Stamford, CT.

The address for this new restaurant in Brookline is: Basil Rice, 479 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA, 02446.
