Olecito in Brookline Village Has Closed

It looks like a local group of Mexican eateries has gotten just a bit smaller.

According to a reader, Olecito in Brookline is shuttered, with a check on the restaurant's website confirming that the Cypress Street spot is indeed closed. Based on the site, it appears that the Cambridge location of Olecito on Springfield Street in Inman Square remains in operation, as does its other restaurant--Ole, which is also on Springfield Street.

Olecito, which first opened in Brookline in May of 2010, was a casual, inexpensive spot that featured tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and tortas.

The address for this now-closed Mexican dining spot in Brookline was: Olecito, 6 Cypress Street, Brookline, MA, 02445. The website for Olecito (and Ole) in Cambridge can be found at http://www.olerestaurantgroup.com/

[April 1 update: Eater Boston states (via the Ole Restaurant Group's website) that the closing of Olecito in Brookline is part of a plan that includes the refreshing of the Olecito brand and an ultimate expansion of the eatery with multiple locations coming to the area next year (EB notes that a new Olecito has already opened in New Bedford).]
