Christo's Alum to Open Niko in West Bridgewater

A year and a half after an iconic Greek restaurant south of Boston closed its doors for good, one of its longtime workers is partnering with a friend to open up a brand new Greek dining spot.

According to an article in The Enterprise, Peter Badavas is teaming up with executive chef David Casey to open Niko in West Bridgewater, with the North Main Street restaurant officially opening its doors on Thursday at 4:00 PM. The post says that the new eatery will having seating for 112 along with a 32-seat bar and a 40-person function room, and that it will feature Greek-American fare with a "modern twist."

Badavas, who worked at Christo's for 16 years, says in the article that his father was owner Christos Tsaganis' "right-hand man" and that he worked at the restaurant until its closing in December of 2013. David Casey, who will be heading up the kitchen at Niko, took part in a January episode of the Food Network reality show "Guy's Grocery Games," which is hosted by TV celebrity Guy Fieri.

The family behind the now-closed Christo's also opened a takeout spot in Whitman called Christo's to Go! last October; there had been talk of the family opening a smaller restaurant as well, though no news has come out about that of late (and it is not known if Niko is the spot that they had been talking about).

The address for this new Greek restaurant in West Bridgewater is: Niko, 275 North Main Street, West Bridgewater, MA, 02379. Its Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Niko-Bar-Grill/755217954596384
