City Tap House to Open in Boston's Fort Point/Seaport District Area

A modern gastropub with three locations in the Mid-Atlantic region is looking to open a fourth spot, with this one being in one of Boston's hottest areas for dining.

The Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog is reporting (via a Twitter post from @FortPointer) that City Tap House is planning to open in the city's Fort Point/Seaport District area, with the eating and drinking spot eyeing a space across from Row 34 on Congress Street. Based on its other locations, it appears that the new outlet of the place would feature "elevated" pub fare along with craft brews from both local breweries and others around the country and beyond. If it gets the green light to open, the Boston location of City Tap House would join two locations in Philadelphia along with a third in Washington, DC.

A public meeting on City Tap House's plans will take place on July 21 at Factory 63 on Melcher Street.

The address for this proposed gastropub in Fort Point is 374 Congress Street, Boston, MA, 02210. The website for the existing locations can be found at http://www.citytaphouse.com/

[November 24 update: A licensing board page within the City of Boston website indicates that City Tap House is seeking to acquire the liquor license of the Park Plaza location of McCormick & Schmick's, which closed its doors in June. The address given for the proposed gastropub is different from the one listed above (10 Boston Wharf Road), though it appears to be within the same building at that site.]

[December 13, 2016 update: Eater Boston states that City Tap House is opening on New Year's Eve.]

[December 14, 2016 update: A press release sent today indicates that the opening of City Tap House on New Year's Eve will actually be a soft opening; the release also mentions that the new place will have a 150-seat dining area and a bar (both overlooking an open kitchen), a private function/events room, and a seasonal patio with fire pits.]
