According to a Twitter post from @DGoodison of The Boston Herald, a restaurant and bar tentatively called Blackmoor Tavern is planning to open in City Square, taking over the former Papagayo space. (The Charlestown location of Papagayo closed in April, with its management team opening a new location of the eatery on Route 1 in Saugus in June.) Very little is currently known about Blackmoor, other than the fact that a hearing on the proposed spot--including a petition to transfer Papagayo's liquor license--will take place on August 12.
The address for the new Blackmoor (and the now-closed Papagayo) is 1 Chelsea Street, Charlestown, MA, 02129.
[August 7 update: Eater Boston mentions that there is a connection between Blackmoor and Olde Magoun's Saloon, as Blackmoor owner Gregory Coughlin is also behind that Somerville spot. (He also opened Copper House Tavern in Waltham in 2013.)]
[August 12 update: Universal Hub states that Blackmoor will offer "upper-scale pub food" to diners and that the place would have 220-225 seats and an outdoor patio during the warmer months.]
[February 26, 2016 update: BostInno says that the name of the place will actually be Blackmoor Bar + Kitchen (not Blackmoor Tavern, as was originally thought) and that it will be an upscale version of a British pub with a fireplace, a dining room and a large bar area, and outdoor dining during the warmer months.]
[May 10-24, 2016 update: A Facebook post states that Blackmoor soft-opened May 10, and as of May 24, the soft opening continues, with no official opening date announced as of yet.]
[June 13, 2016 update: A new Facebook post indicates that Blackmoor is basically fully open now, as everything is now available except for sandwiches, and they hope to add those to the menu today as well.]
