Peet's Coffee and Tea to Purchase Stumptown Coffee Roasters

A California-based coffee roaster and retailer with a growing presence in the Boston area is in the process of buying another west coast roaster whose coffee can also be found in the local region.

Eater is reporting that Peet's Coffee & Tea is going to be acquiring Stumptown Coffee Roasters, an independent company that is headquartered in Portland, OR. The article says while Peet's will take over ownership of Stumptown from its current shareholders (including its majority stakeholder), the coffee roaster will still run independently after the purchase is complete, and that it will "continue to pursue its own growth strategy."

Peet's Coffee has a number of locations in the local area, including in Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Lexington, Newton Centre, and Wellesley. Stumptown coffee can be found in a few local spots, including locations of Thinking Cup and Tatte. The website for the Peet's chain is at http://www.peets.com/ while the website for Stumptown is at https://www.stumptowncoffee.com/
