Brew District May Replace The Fat Cactus in Lynnfield

A Mexican restaurant that is located on an infamous stretch of highway could become a new dining spot.

According to a Board of Selectmen minutes page within the town of Lynnfield website, the manager of The Fat Cactus on Route 1 is hoping to replace the restaurant with Brew District, which will offer American fare with a focus on BBQ. The note indicates that the new eatery was planning to be called Johnny Goodbones, but the people behind the place got some "negative feedback" for that name. It appears that The Fat Cactus had remained open through at least New Year's Eve, but @James13rown tells us via Twitter that it is now closed and there are now signs up for Brew District.

The Fat Cactus first opened its doors in Lynnfield in early 2010; a second location opened in Randolph the following year, but that restaurant closed in 2013.

The address for the proposed Brew District is 215 Broadway (Route 1), Lynnfield, MA, 01940.

[August 10 update: It looks like plans for Brew District may have fallen through, as the space has been locked up since the winter and a source tells us that the adjacent Kelly Nissan may have taken over the space (which has been used as a lot for Kelly's vehicles).]
