Orsini Is Opening in Former Grapevine Space in Salem

A new Italian restaurant is coming to the North Shore, opening in the space where a landmark dining spot had once been.

The Salem News is reporting that Orsini plans to open on Congress Street in Salem, taking over the space where Grapevine was for more than 15 years. The article mentions that the new eatery will have seating for 90 inside, a lounge with a capacity of 35, and an outdoor patio with 90 additional seats during the warmer months, and that some of the workers from the Grapevine will be returning to the space. Currently, the people behind Orsini are waiting for the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission to give its final approval of the liquor license transfer; if all goes well, the restaurant could be opening in the late spring.

The Grapevine first opened as an Italian restaurant in 1988, changing to more of a Mediterranean spot when it came under new ownership in 2012. The place closed its doors for good around the beginning of last year.

The address for Orsini is 26 Congress Street, Salem, MA, 01970.
