The Cottage Bar Opens in Former Mollie Maguire's/Union Chowder House Space in Weymouth

A brand new Irish pub has come to the South Shore, and it has moved into the space where another Irish pub had been--and before that, a seafood restaurant.

According to an email sent last night, The Cottage Bar is now open in South Weymouth, taking over the former Mollie Maguire's Pub and Union Chowder House space on Union Street. The email indicates that the spot opened sometime last week and will offer food and drink--the menu shows soups, salads, sandwiches, bar pizza, Irish and American entrees, and a children's menu--and it will be showing all Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) matches as well. One of the people behind the place is also involved with the East Coast Tavern Group (Carrie Nation, Emmet's, Scholar's, 6B Lounge), though The Cottage Bar is a separate venture.

Mollie Maguire's Pub closed in the spring of 2015 after being in business for approximately a year; it had replaced the Union Chowder House, which had been around since the late 1980s.

The address for this new Irish pub in Weymouth is: The Cottage Bar, 26 Union Street, South Weymouth, MA, 02190. Its website can be found at http://www.thecottageweymouth.com/
