Smith & Wollensky Considering Global Expansion

It looks like a Boston-based group of steakhouses could be expanding in a major way.

The Boston Business Journal is reporting that Smith & Wollensky is planning to open multiple restaurants outside of the United States, including in such places as Bangkok, Dubai, Hong Kong, Mexico City, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, and Tokyo. This comes on the heels of the opening of the chain's first international outlet last year (in London)--and the acquisition of the company by Dublin-based Danu Investment Partners Ltd. early this year. Smith & Wollensky is also looking to upgrade existing outlets in Chicago, Columbus, and Miami, according to the BBJ.

Smith & Wollensky currently has a total of ten locations, including ones at "The Castle" on Arlington Street in Boston's Back Bay and at Atlantic Wharf on Commercial Street along the waterfront. The website for Smith & Wollensky can be found at http://www.smithandwollensky.com/
