Crying Thaiger Is Opening in Malden

A new Thai restaurant is opening in Malden, moving into the space where a Chinese restaurant had been.

According to a couple of sources, Crying Thaiger is opening on Ferry Street in the former Great Chow space, with one of the sources saying that an event with the mayor will be taking place there around lunchtime today while its Facebook page indicates that a soft opening runs until October 26 and a grand opening comes October 27. One source says that this is the first Thai restaurant in the city, with the dining spot getting its name from a classic Thai dish with a dipping sauce so hot it made a tiger cry. Included on the menu will be this "Crying Tiger" dish that includes Thai-style grilled tender beef brisket with Jaew sauce, which is "spicy, savory, tangy, aromatic, pungent" and has flakes of dried chili and toasted rice, according to a Facebook post from the place.

The address for Crying Thaiger is 114 Ferry Street, Malden, MA, 02148. Its website will be at https://www.cryingthaigerma.com/
