Earlier today, it had appeared that yet another dive bar was shutting down, but it looks like it will remain open for now.
According to an events page on Facebook that has since been deleted, a farewell party was being set up for the Bus Stop Pub in Allston on April 21, with both the discussion on the events page and a Twitter thread indicating that this could have something to do with Mugar Enterprises. Eater Boston has discovered, however, that the Western Avenue watering hole remains in operation and that "the business has not been sold at this time." A bldup.com page does show that much of the property surrounding the Bus Stop Pub is apparently being set up for development by the company.
A number of other dive bars in Boston have shut down over the past several years (with many being replaced by new development), including such spots as the Castlebar in Brighton; Lower Mills Pub and the Centre Bar in Dorchester; Aces High, the Cornerstone Pub, and the Quencher Tavern in South Boston; and the Drinking Fountain in Jamaica Plain.
The address for the Bus Stop Pub is 252 Western Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134.
