A local group of vegetarian fast-food restaurants is getting just a bit smaller, as its Brookline location is shutting down.
According to an article in the Brookline Patch, the takeout-only location of Clover Food Lab on Harvard Street in Brookline Village is planning to close on April 20, with owner Ayr Muir saying that "When we opened five years ago there, we were testing out different formats.....We were curious about trying a take out version....Take-out might be something we come back to at some point, but the other models work better for us." Muir also mentions that he had attempted to work with the town to rezone the Clover space so that it would have seating, but it ended up not working out.
Clover first started out as a food truck at MIT in Cambridge in 2008, eventually expanding with multiple food trucks and brick-and-mortar locations. The food trucks have since been taken off the road, but a number of permanent locations can be found in the region, with the closest to the soon-to-close Brookline outlet being in the Longwood medical area in Boston.
The address for Clover in Brookline Village is 10 Harvard Street, Brookline, MA, 02445. The website for all locations can be found at http://www.cloverfoodlab.com/
