One of the oldest dive bars in the Boston area is shutting down, and it looks like it could be making way for new development.
According to a source, Sully's in Quincy is closing on June 16, with the Chestnut Street watering hole apparently being at least one business that may be replaced by East of Chestnut, a proposed residential and retail complex that would join the existing West of Chestnut across the street. According to an historical walk events page from several years back, Sully's first opened in 1935 and is considered the oldest continuously operating bar in the city, with three generations of Sullivans being behind the place.
