Luigi's Italian Kitchen Opening in Former Sabatino's Space in East Arlington

by Marc Hurwitz

It looks like a new Italian dining spot is opening where a popular pizzeria had been until closing due to a heating oil spill.

According to a poster on The Arlington List Facebook group page, a sign is up for Luigi's Italian Kitchen at the site of the now-closed Sabatino's in East Arlington, with a check on Bizapedia seeming to confirm that the eatery is indeed coming to the Mass. Ave. space. No information can currently be found on the restaurant other than the fact that Lisa Cronin appears to be involved with it and that the company itself (Luigi's Italian Kitchen, LLC) has a Franklin address. As soon as we find out more about the place, we will post an update here.

Sabatino's was forced to close in 2016 after something went wrong with a delivery of heating oil, flooding the basement of the building and causing Sabatino's to shutter. Shortly after it closed, it appeared that the people behind Sabatino's hoped to open in a new space somewhere in town, though this has not happened as of yet.

The address for Luigi's Italian Kitchen is 242 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA, 02474.

[August 30 update: Luigi's appears to be close to opening, as a sign is now up for the place and Your Arlington states that it was recently granted a common victualler license. Multiple sources also confirm that this is not connected to the long-closed Luigi's in Bedford.]

[September 25 update: According to a source (and confirmed by a check on the place), Luigi's Italian Kitchen is now open, though it has no online presence as of yet and no menu is available, so check back for more updates once we find out more about the restaurant.]
