Potbelly Sandwich Shop in Cambridge's Porter Square Has Closed

by Marc Hurwitz

A Chicago-based chain of sub shops that quickly expanded through the Boston area several years ago has closed one of its locations.

According to a Twitter post from @codeman38, Potbelly Sandwich Shop in the Porter Square section of Cambridge is no longer in business, with a sign out front directing customers to their Downtown Crossing locations in Boston as well as their Burlington location. The chain debuted in the local area with a shop at Logan Airport in the spring of 2012, with the two locations in downtown Boston soon opening along with the Burlington outlet and another in Braintree. (The Cambridge shop opened in the summer of 2013.)

Potbelly Sandwich Shop, which started out in 1977, features a variety of sandwiches as well as soups, salads, and more.

The address for this now-closed location of Potbelly Sandwich Shop in Cambridge was 1 Porter Square, Cambridge, MA, 02140. The website for the chain can be found at http://www.potbelly.com/
