A new restaurant is replacing a dining and drinking spot in Salem that closed abruptly last year, and the person behind it runs another eatery in Winthrop.
According to a Facebook post, Blue Fez is planning to open in the former Naumkeag Ordinary space on Washington Street, with the thread indicating that the restaurant is starting to go through the renovation and permitting process. The post also mentions that Nasser Belghiti, who is the chef-owner of the upcoming spot, owns and operates Kasbah Restaurant on Putnam Street in Winthrop Center; that restaurant focuses on Moroccan dishes, and the Facebook page for Blue Fez indicates that it could focus at least in part on Moroccan fare as well, though it is not known exactly what will be on the menu as of yet.
Naumkeag Ordinary closed last August with very little warning after a bit more than four years in business, with the restaurant featuring mostly seasonal New American fare.
The address for this new restaurant in Salem is: Blue Fez, 118 Washington Street, Salem, MA, 01970.
