It looks like the future of a beloved East Boston restaurant is up in the air.
According to an article in Boston Magazine, KO Pies at the Shipyard in East Boston could be shutting down or end up being sold to a new owner next year, as owner Sam Jackson is planning to leave Boston. The post mentions that three possible scenarios could take place--the business could be sold to a new owner who could then open a different restaurant in its space; the dining spot stays open until its lease runs out at the end of 2019, at which point its beer and wine license is sold; or a new owner buys the place and continues to run it as KO Pies. This news comes on the heels of the original KO Catering & Pies in South Boston closing down, as its building on A Street was sold.
KO Pies at the Shipyard first opened in East Boston in 2012, taking over the space where Scup's in the Harbour had been. The restaurant is known in part for its Australian meat pies.
The address for KO Pies at the Shipyard is 256 Marginal Street (Building 16), East Boston, MA, 02128. Its website can be found at http://www.kocateringandpies.com/
