A North End restaurant that was once featured on a reality TV series has shut down, and it is not yet know what might become of the space.
According to a tweet from @ConciergeBoston, La Galleria 33 on Salem Street is closed, though no note has been posted out front and there is no apparent indication as to its exact status on its website or across social media. The restaurant had been shown on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares in the fall of 2012, with the show's focus being on helping revive troubled restaurants across the country, including La Galleria 33. (Ramsay had also visited the now-closed Davide on nearby Commercial Street in 2010, with that episode being shown in early 2011.)
As soon as we find out exactly why La Galleria 33 closed, we will post an update here.
The address for La Galleria 33 is 125 Salem Street, Boston, MA, 02113.
[November 8 update: Based on a licensing board hearing page within the City of Boston website, it appears that a new dining spot may be taking over the space occupied by La Galleria 33, as the notice mentions that the now-closed restaurant's license is looking to be transferred to Piarosa Group, Inc. The notice also says that Shannon MacGowan is listed as manager--and this seems to be the same Shannon MacGowan who is slated to be manager of the upcoming Forcella, which is taking over the former Carmen space at North Square.]
