K Pub Plans to Open in Former Spud's Space in Saugus

by Marc Hurwitz

A new restaurant featuring burgers, sushi, and more may be coming to a North Shore space that had been home to one of the last locations of a local group of dining spots.

According to a message sent from @CappyinBoston, K Pub is looking to open in Saugus, taking over the former Spud's space on Lincoln Street. An article from itemlive.com confirms this, saying that Kevin Ye (Oye's Restaurant in Saugus and 2Twenty2 near North Station in Boston) and Wan Xi Ye (Fusion House in Methuen) are behind the place, which Kevin Ye says will be "more like an Asian grill with sushi and burgers" while the article mentions it will be a "high-end sports bar and restaurant" that offers American and Chinese fare along with sushi.

Spud's had been open for approximately 30 years until closing last summer; there had once been locations of the dining and drinking spot in Danvers, Woburn, and North Hampton, NH as well, though all have closed, with the only remaining location being in Rowley [ed note--now closed as well].

The address for the upcoming K Pub is 22 Lincoln Avenue, Saugus, MA, 01906.

[January 24 update: A new article from itemlive.com mentions that Saugus Selectmen have approved of plans for K Pub to open in the former Spud's space, with the place having 185 seats and the same layout as Spud's, though with upgrades made to the space.]

[August 26, 2020 update: Wicked Local states that K Pub plans to soft-open tonight.]
