A bakery/pastry shop in Harvard Square that focuses on cupcakes has been forced to close its doors.
According to a source, Sweet Bakery on Brattle Street shut down today, with a note out front saying that "Unfortunately, our Harvard Square location is closing as of January 6th. Our building is being renovated and we will have no choice but to close." The note refers customers to its other two shops on School Street in downtown Boston and Chestnut Hill Square in Chestnut Hill.
Sweet Bakery--which has also been known as Sweet Cupcakes--first opened its Harvard Square shop approximately 10 years ago.
The address for Sweet Bakery in Harvard Square was Zero Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138. The website for the two remaining locations can be found at https://sweetcupcakes.com/
[September 2 update: While its website says that the Harvard Square location of Sweet Bakery is closed for renovations, a Facebook post from Jen Deaderick shows that the building in which it was housed has been demolished. (It is not yet known whether the shop could return once the new building is complete there.)]
