The Living Room in Boston's North End Is Closing

by Marc Hurwitz

Another well-known name within the Boston restaurant/bar scene is saying farewell.

According to an article in northendwaterfront.com, The Living Room on Atlantic Avenue is closing its doors on January 19, as its lease is up and it was apparently not able to get a long-term lease from the owners of the Mercantile building, who bought it in 2015 and had been only offering short-term leases. (The post says that the people behind The Living Room wanted a long-term lease in order to be able to make renovations to the space.) It is not known what might become of the space at this point, so stay tuned for updates as they come in.

The Living Room started out in 1998 as a seafood restaurant called Atlantic 101, eventually reconcepting into its present form in 2005 and becoming a popular place for comfort food and cocktails while also featuring DJs and dancing.

The address for The Living Room is 101 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, MA, 02110. Its website can be found at http://www.thelivingroomboston.com/
