Towne Stove and Spirits in Boston's Back Bay Has Closed

by Marc Hurwitz

A Back Bay restaurant that once had two of the region's best-known chefs behind it has closed.

According to an article from Eater Boston, Towne Stove and Spirits at the Hynes Convention Center on Boylston Street is no longer in business, having shut down "relatively quietly" around the start of the new year. The post mentions that Patrick Lyons of the Lyons Group (and the owner of the restaurant) will be opening a new spot in the space possibly before Marathon Monday and that the space will go through a "complete overhaul."

Towne Stove and Spirits, which first opened in the summer of 2010, had Lydia Shire and Jasper White initially overseeing the menu; Shire is a James Beard award winner who is behind Scampo and was also a partner at the now-closed Locke-Ober, while White is also a James Beard award winner who is behind Jasper White's Summer Shack restaurants.

Towne Stove and Spirits was known in part for its New American dishes with a variety of international influences.

The address for Towne Stove and Spirits (and the upcoming restaurant taking over its space) is 900 Boylston Street, Boston, MA, 02115.
