Maverick's Bar & Grill in Tewksbury Has Closed

by Marc Hurwitz

A longtime dining and drinking spot in the northern suburbs of Boston has shut its doors, and it appears that the closure is connected to an ongoing issue concerning late payments of taxes.

According to a source, Maverick's Bar & Grill in Tewksbury is no longer in business, with a post from Your Tewksbury Today and an article from The Lowell Sun both confirming this, saying that the owners of the Main Street spot have turned in their food and liquor licenses. The articles mention that the restaurant and bar has been late in tax payments for a number of years since it opened in 1997, while Your Tewksbury Today also mentions complaints from residents about noise and behavior of customers as well as late water and sewer payments. A sign out front shows that Maverick's Bar & Grill is "closed for renovations" but it appears that the place will not be reopening.

The address for Maverick's Bar & Grill was 2212 Main Street (Route 38), Tewksbury, MA, 01876.
