Jamaica Mi Hungry Is Opening in the Former Mooyah Space in Jamaica Plain

by Marc Hurwitz

The people behind a food truck in Boston--and a restaurant in New Hampshire--will be opening a brick-and-mortar spot in Jamaica Plain, moving into the space where a location of a chain of burger places had been.

According to an article in the Jamaica Plain News, Jamaica Mi Hungry is opening on Centre Street in Jackson Square in the former Mooyah Burgers, Fries and Shakes space. Based on the offerings from the food truck and its seasonal restaurant in Hampton Beach, the new spot could offer such items as jerk chicken, jerk pork, curry goat, oxtail, rice and beans, plantains, and more.

The Jamaica Plain location of the Texas-based Mooyah closed last fall after being in business for approximately a year and a half; other locations remain open in downtown Boston, Billerica [ed note--reopening soon], Hudson, Northborough, and Sudbury.

The address for the new Jamaica Mi Hungry in Jamaica Plain is 225 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130. The website for the business can be found at https://www.jamaicamihungry.com/

[April 16 update: A Facebook post from the place indicates that Jamaica Mi Hungry plans to open its brick-and-mortar restaurant in Jamaica Plain sometime this spring.]

[September 11 update: A new Facebook post mentions that Jamaica Mi Hungry soft-opens in Jamaica Plain tomorrow (Thursday, September 12).]
