Gantetsu-Ya Is Opening Across from Ganko Ittetsu Ramen in Brookline

by Marc Hurwitz

The people behind a popular Brookline restaurant will be opening a new spot that focuses on a couple of Japanese snack items.

According to Patrick Maguire of Maguire Promotions & Hospitality Consulting, Gantetsu-Ya is planning to open across from Ganko Ittetsu Ramen in the Arcade Building on the northern edge of Coolidge Corner, with an Instagram post from the place saying that will be featuring takoyaki, or grilled octopus balls, and okonomiyaki, which are savory pancakes. No opening date has been given for the upcoming eatery, with the post simply saying that it will open soon.

Ganko Ittetsu Ramen, which first opened in the fall of 2015, is known for its three types of ramen options--miso, tan tan, and shoyu.

[September 3 update: Eater Boston states that Gantetsu-Ya has opened, though it is only serving takoyaki for now (it will start serving okonomiyaki at some point in the future).]
