A small local chain of family restaurants will be expanding to a new location, and this one will be its closest one to Boston--which is where it also happens to get its name from.
According to a Patch article, the Boston Tavern is planning to open in Norwood, moving into the space on Route 1 that had been home to a location of Outback Steakhouse until it closed early last year. Once it opens, the new dining and drinking spot will join other locations of Boston Tavern in West Bridgewater and Middleboro along with two other affiliated spots called the Medway Cafe and the Ashland Ale House--and the new restaurant will actually be modeled after the latter, with seating for approximately 190.
If all goes well, construction on the space should be done in about five months, with the plan being to open by the holiday season.
The address for this new restaurant in Norwood will be: Boston Tavern, 1212 Providence Highway (Route 1), Norwood, MA, 02062. The website for the chain can be found at https://www.thebostontavern.com/index.php
Thanks to a source for initially bringing this to our attention.
[January 22, 2020 update: A message from the place indicates that Boston Tavern opens today.]
