A brand new dining and drinking spot has come to downtown Boston, and it moves into a space where another restaurant and bar had been.
As mentioned in an earlier article here, The Emory is now open on Beacon Street, taking over the former Scollay Square space along the eastern edge of Beacon Hill. The new place is a "modern American neighborhood restaurant" that is run by Andy Kilgore (Broad Street Riot, The Merchant, No. 9 Park, Stoddard's) while Derek Robert of the now-closed Townsman is heading up the kitchen. A menu from The Emory shows such options as charcuterie, raw bar items, small plates such as foie gras tots and grilled oysters, entrees including double-cut pork chops and herbed tagliatelle, and "large format" items for four to six people including roasted pork shoulder and a New England lobster bake. (Beer, wine, and cocktails are also available.) The Emory will be open only for dinner initially, with lunch and brunch service following later this summer.
Scollay Square first opened in the Beacon Street space approximately 15 years ago, offering comfort food, wine, and cocktails.
