Navy Yard Bistro in Charlestown Closes This Week

Last fall, it was reported that one of the great restaurant spaces in Boston could eventually be without a restaurant. Now we have learned that the end is near, though it could reopen elsewhere--while a new dining spot may open in its space.

According to a Facebook post from the place, Navy Yard Bistro in Charlestown will have its regular menu along with specials through this Thursday night, with the 6th Street eatery being closed on Friday for a wedding while two parties will be taking place on Saturday, and a family-style dinner will be held on Sunday which appears to be the final farewell for the place. A comment within the thread hints that this might not be it for the restaurant, as owner John Moore says that they are working on a new location. In addition, a story from this spring hinted that the people behind the Brewer's Fork on nearby Moulton Street may be expanding into the space and that it could be an American bistro, though specific details have not been given as of yet.

Navy Yard Bistro first opened approximately 15 years ago in an historic structure in the navy yard that includes an outdoor patio along a tree-shaded cobblestone walkway. The restaurant is known for its New American fare and array of wines.

The address for Navy Yard Bistro is 1 6th Street, Charlestown, MA, 02129. Its website can be found at https://www.navyyardbistro.com/
