A popular trio of BBQ restaurants could be joined by a fourth, possibly opening where a short-lived Mediterranean dining spot in Cambridge had been.
According to a license commission hearing agenda page within the city's website, The Smoke Shop BBQ has applied for a license to open in Harvard Square, with the address indicating that it would open in the space on Holyoke Street where En Boca was until closing in June of 2017. The notice mentions that the new spot would have two levels of dining and it would also have a bar area, with seating for 137 and a total capacity of 162. If approved, the new location of The Smoke Shop--which is run by Andy Husbands, who had also been known for his now-closed Tremont 647 and Sister Sorel in Boston's South End--would join other locations in Cambridge's Kendall Square, Somerville's Assembly Row, and the Fort Point section of Boston.
The space where En Boca had resided had formerly been home to Sandrine's Bistro.
The address for the proposed location of The Smoke Shop BBQ in Harvard Square is 8 Holyoke Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138. The website for the existing three locations can be found at https://thesmokeshopbbq.com/
