Richards Is Opening in the Former Tex Mex Eats/Tupelo Space in Cambridge's Inman Square

It looks like a new restaurant is on its way to Cambridge, taking over the space where a Tex-Mex pop-up and a few Southern restaurants had been.

According to a source, Richards going to be opening in Inman Square, though there had been some initial confusion as to whether a long-closed restaurant called Cajun Yankee may be returning to the Cambridge Street space. Another source sent us a picture showing that signs for that dining spot were up, though it now appears that these may be the old Cajun Yankee signs that were under the old Tupelo signs.

The website for Richards says that this is the first venture for Richard III and Sarah Graham, and that the menu will have a"variety of options to please everyone from the pickiest diner to the very adventurous," though a menu is not yet up for the place.

The space in which Richards is opening had been home to Tex Mex Eats, Tupelo, Magnolia's Southern Cuisine, and Cajun Yankee.

The address for the upcoming Richards is 1193 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA, 02139. Its website can be found at https://richards02139.com/

[September 5 update: An article from boston.com indicates that Richards plans to open on September 27, and that it will feature New American fare along with beer and wine, with the plan being to open for dinner only at first, though its hours could eventually be extended.]

[September 27 update: A Facebook post from the place indicates that Richards will not be opening tonight after all, as the opening date has been pushed back to Wednesday, October 2.]

[October 2 update: Eater Boston states that Richards indeed opens this evening, though it will be more of a soft opening with a limited menu. (The post says that the restaurant will have more of a grand opening tomorrow.)]
