A few months ago, a popular beer bar that had been around for more than 20 years abruptly closed, and it ultimately appeared that it would not be returning. Now we have learned that it will indeed be opening back up again.
According to a source, Union Brewhouse in Weymouth is planning to reopen, with a Facebook post from the Washington Street spot showing a picture of the place with an "opening soon" sign out front, while the post itself says, "Brewhouse will be re-opening soon! Stay tuned!" Union Brewhouse closed out of the blue in mid-June, though a few days later its Facebook page indicated that the closure was due to "a perfect storm of equipment failure" and that it planned to eventually be up and running again. In July, however, its future appeared to be in doubt, as a "For Sale" sign was posted out front.
Union Brewhouse first opened its doors in 1996, offering an array of craft beers along with comfort food and pub grub.
The address for Union Brewhouse is 550 Washington Street (Route 53), Weymouth, MA, 02188.
[October 9 update: According to a source, Union Brewhouse may be reopening as early as today, while a poster on the Facebook page for the place mentions that it could be reopening tomorrow; we will try to find out exactly when it will be opening back up, so stay tuned for another update soon.]
