It looks like a brand new Mexican restaurant is on its way to a busy section of Boston, and it will apparently take over the space where a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern spot had been.
According to a source (Geoff Wong), Sombrero Chiquito is getting ready to open on Mass. Ave. near where the Back Bay and the Fenway meet, with the address indicating that it will take over the former Mass Ave Pita space. A photo of the storefront shows that the new eatery will offer such items as salads, nachos, bowls, tacos, and burritos--and falafel is mentioned as well. It is not yet known when Sombrero Chiquito might open, so check back for updates as they come in.
The address for Sombrero Chiquito is 197A Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA, 02115.
[February 14 update: Our source now tells us that Sombrero Chiquito appears to be completely set up inside, though it is not yet known what day it might open (the place appears to have no website or social media presence).]
[April 16 update: Eater Boston states that Sombrero Chiquito is now open, and it appears that the restaurant opened just before the restaurant restrictions were put into place last month. (The place is open for both takeout and delivery for now.)]
