A proposed brewery that had an ordained minister behind it will apparently not be happening after all.
According to a source, plans for Agape Brewing Co. to open in Gloucester have fallen through, with a Facebook post and Vimeo video from Jamie Green Klopotoski saying the following:
I had a dream. A dream of having a brewery tap room in Gloucester that would be a safe and welcoming space for everyone to come together as a community to do some good in the world. But things have not been working out as planned. We have been inundated with rules, regulations, fees, red tape, bureaucracy, inconsistencies, nonsensical legalities, and delays. We are more in debt than I had anticipated because the city just kept piling on more unpublished fees, and because our tap room is STILL not open. We were hoping for a grand opening in June, which wasn't able to happen because of licensing. Then we planned a grand opening for November, which also wasn't able to happen because of licensing. So then we planned a January grand opening. But after the most recent licensing board meeting, it appears unlikely that we will EVER be able to open.
Klopotoski goes on to say that as of January 1, all aspects of the brewery will be closed, though her nonprofit organization (Agape Brewing Community) will continue on in some form.
Agape Brewing Co. had been hoping to open in the Blackburn Center just north of Route 128, with the facility including a brewery, taproom, and community space.
