The Capital Burger to Open in Former Papa Razzi Space in Boston's Back Bay

A restaurant that features gourmet burgers and spiked shakes--and which has a connection to a chain of upscale steakhouses--is planning to expand to Boston, taking over the space where a longtime Italian restaurant had been.

A Boston Sun article confirms what a Twitter poster mentioned this afternoon, that The Capital Burger is looking to open in the former Papa Razzi space in the Back Bay, with the article saying that the dining spot, which currently has a location in Washington, DC, is affiliated with The Capital Grille. Based on the menu at its original location, the Newbury Street outlet could have such items as burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, steak frites, fried calamari, cheese fries, spiked shakes, and more.

Papa Razzi closed in November after being in the Back Bay for three decades; the restaurant moved from another location at the corner of Newbury and Dartmouth Streets approximately 10 years ago.

The address for the upcoming Capital Burger is 159 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02116. The website for the Washington, DC, location is at https://www.thecapitalburger.com/

[June 2 update: The Capital Burger could be one step closer to opening in the Back Bay by later this week, as a licensing board hearing page shows that its request for a liquor license is slated to be looked at tomorrow (Wednesday, June 3).]

[March 31, 2021 update: A Facebook comment from the place indicates that The Capital Burger opens its Back Bay location tomorrow (April 1).]
